Using isolator to avoid damage to Amplifier.

录入:edatop.com    阅读:

hi,

Can i use an isolator to avoid reflected power coming back into the power amplifier. There is a chance , when antenna cable is not connected to the amplifier.

Can i use this DI070SA isolator at 50 watt output?
Is there any other way to shutdown amplifier in case of high reflected power?

yes, you can use isolator at amplifier output to protect amplifier if you accept it's insertion loss. but two things you should be aware
1. the amplifier will still get +22dBm reflected power from isolator
2. the isolator should be mounted on heat sink

Thanks

Yes, you can. But price is very high.
Because output power of PA is very high and power rating of isolation is relate to price.

Is there any other option to implement reverse power protection?

I got Isolators for gsm and dcs band and integrated them with the power amplifier. Now there PA's are safe when antenna are not connected.
The isolators for VHF band are much more expensive than GSM and DCS bands. How can i implement the protection for VHF band?

Yes , you can.
But you need to consider about maximum power rating and insertion loss of isolator.
Isolator also can provide good return loss for your module.

Yes , you can.
