PA design - Optimising with Nested Parameter sweeps

录入:edatop.com    点击:
hi,

I'm running a harmonic balance with a parameter fro drive power and then another one for the fundamental frequency, i then was to optimise components in my schematic to try and achieve a particular efficiency across all sweep values, and then a particular output power for the peak power sweep variable.

is this possible? all the tutorials I've seen are for s-param/ac or other basic simulations, none with nested parameter sweeps.

the problem i run into is when i try and reference the fundamental power, like i do in a data display Pout[1], it just says invalid expression.

is there a more advanced tutorial on optimisation i can look at or dose anyone know how to get around this?

thanks
David

David, from your description, it is a little hard to understand exactly what you are trying to do. However, it is probably possible to set up an optimization that is close to what you want. I recommend looking at the optimization setups in this Knowledge Center example:
http://edadocs.software.keysight.com/display/eesofkcads/Using+ADS+to+Investigate+the+Performance+of+a+Doherty+Power+Amplifier
It has an optimization of different parameter values to try to maximize power-added efficiency at different output powers and includes a sweep of the input power.
The Amplifier DesignGuide has optimizations of source and load impedances or reflection coefficients at fundamental and harmonic frequencies to maximize PAE while delivering a minimum output power.

This is exactly what I wanted, thanks! I will give it a try and take a look at the design guide.

Thanks
David
