2.5D EM Optimization inside ADS...

I have designed a filter using the coupled lines
circuit element (CLIN) in ADS. Optimized it
in the circuit simulator. Created a layout
and then simulated the layout using EMPro
and also Momentum.

And (of course) the results differ...

So the natural thing would be to start an optimizing session
in a 2.5/3D EM solver and let my computer sweat
during the week-end.

This seems not doable. I have seen some web content
descriping optimization using Momentum, but that was
several releases ago. As far as I can see (now) there
is no way I can transfer the filter in a parameterized
way to Momentum or EMPro and run an optimization from
there.

So my question is if there is a way to do it
within Keysight products, or if I have to redraw
the structure and parameterize it in a competing
product and then finalize the design from there...

It is possible to parameterize your layouts and run parameter sweeps or optimizations using Momentum. In your layout, if you are just using standard components that have parameters this should be straightforward. We have a workshop on the various ways of parameterizing layouts in ADS, and there are examples in the product. If you are interested in the workshop, please contact your local Keysight EEsof application engineer.

It's easy once you understand the workflow. See my application note:

Hi,

you could use the model composer and create your "own" CLIN model based on the momentum simulation. afterwards you can use the model multiple times in the schematic view as you do with CLINs.
It take some time to create a model but it is way faster than just sweeping parameters. additionally, the parameter range can bet set to be continuous. there will be a warning when using more than two continuous parameters but you can ignore this one.
