General Description

This example is a low pass filter created with microstrip lines.

Structure Generation

The structure is created only by bricks. The ground plane is not modelled by a shape because it is considered by using an electric boundary condition.

Solver Setup

For the excitation, waveguide ports at the beginning and at the end of the microstrip line are used.

Because of the symmetry of the structure only half of it needs to be simulated. A magnetic symmetry condition ensures that the results of the entire structure are obtained. The ground plane is represented by an electric boundary condition. To ensure that the influence of the other boundary conditions can be neglected additional background material is added on top of the structure.

Post Processing

The scattering parameters and the time signals can be accessed through the 1D Results folder in the navigation tree. The results there can also be selected during the simulation.
