Component Definition Sample

I want program a simple function and pass it to Parameter_Type_Mapping to create a multiplexer, as stated here:

I've already read a few help file for Component Definitions and embarrassingly, I really still don't know where to start. So I was thinking, wouldn't it be easier if there was an available minimalistic sample package for Component Definitions that I can copy to the workspace folder? Then I can modify that for my purpose?
