This page contains a list of the most important warning and information messages together with a detailed explanation of the meaning and proposal for handling and resolution.

Model size is smaller than a valid box.

The geometrical data could not be correctly imported because the units are not correctly set.

Modeling and meshing operations may fail!

Solutions:

Change unit dimensions, and check "Scale to current unit" in the import options.

If the "Import file units" have to be specified then set them to a smaller dimension than the project units.

For OBJ imports you may change the "Scale factor" instead of setting the "Import file units".

Coordinates are outside the dynamic range [-1e4, 1e4] of the 3D Modeler.

Modeling and meshing operations may fail!

Solutions:

Scale and translate the objects as appropriate into the dynamic range of the 3D Modeler.

The quality of the imported model can be improved by setting the project unit to "xxx", and importing the model again with the option "Scale to current unit".

The geometrical data of the CATIA5, STEP, PROE or Inventor file were not modelled with the same accuracy as that of the 3D Modeler. Therefore, the quality of the import is not as good as it is needed for further operations on the imported shapes. In order to improve the quality of the imported model use the following steps.

Solution:

  1. Set the project unit before the import to "xxx".

  2. Activate the import option "Scale to current unit" and perform the import.

  3. After the import, set the project unit to the one you desire.

  4. Now scale the model with an appropriate scale factor using the transform dialog. (i.e. if the project unit before the import was "m", and the project unit after the import is set to "mm" as suggested in step 3, then you need to use a scale factor of 1000)
