CST2013: Construct / Discrete port with lumped element
Home: MacrosMacrosConstructDiscrete PortsDiscrete port with lumped element
Based on two previously picked points, the macro constructs a discrete port connected in series with a lumped element (R, L, C or any combination thereof):
This is useful when the port needs to be matched to an external device whose impedance is not purely real. For example, RFID antennas at low frequencies (in the MHz range) often behave as an inductor: a capacitor needs to be added in series with the discrete port, in order to obtain a good match at the desired frequency.
Impedance:
Enter the internal impedance of the discrete port; note that the discrete ports always have a real internal impedance (no imaginary part)
Name:
Enter the name of the series lumped element. There is no check to whether the name already exists – if it exists, it will be overwritten.
Type, R[Ohms], L[H], C[F]:
Enter the characteristics of the lumped element. By convention, a zero value for R, L or C is used if that component does not exist.
The voltage and the current through the discrete port / lumped element will be monitored if the corresponding button is clicked.
OK
Press this button to finally create the discrete port and lumped element. The definitions are added to the history list. At the end a reopen file forces an rebuild of the history list.
