Octree
The TLM solver uses an Octree mesh that is automatically constructed from the background mesh properties defined on the Mesh Properties dialogs. Cells are lumped together to create larger cells where possible to minimize the total cell count for the solver. Cells adjacent to model edges or off axis surfaces will remain unlumped and cells further away from these features will be progressively lumped together. The cell size that will be created when cells are lumped together is approximately equal to the distance of cells from model features.
The maximum cell size that can be created by lumping outside the bounding box of the model is determined by the cells per wavelength Far from model setting on the Mesh Properties dialog.
The maximum octree cell size that can be created by lumping inside the bounding box of the model is determined by the Octree cell size settings accessible with the Mesh Properties ’Specials...’ button.
In the vast majority of models it will be sufficient to use the default setting. You can chose to use:
Limit octree cell size near to model to
Max cell size near to model: Octree cell size near to model will be limited to the value of the Maximum cell size near to model defined on the Mesh Properties dialog.
Max cell size far from model: Octree cell size near to model will be limited to maximum cell size far from model defined on the Mesh Properties dialog. This is the default settings.
Absolute: Check this radio button to specify absolute maximum value for the octree cell size. To turn off lumping altogether near to the model set this to 0.
OK
Accepts the changes and closes the dialog.
Close
Closes this dialog box without performing any further action.
Apply
Accepts the input without closing the dialog.
